Summer in Cebu is all about road trips to Moalboal, beach getaways in Bantayan, mountain drives to Balamban, and late-night laag around the city.
But before you hit SRP, Transcentral Highway, or that road trip up north, make sure your car is ready for the season.
At GearUp Auto Solution, we know how our local roads, heat, and sudden uwan can take a toll on your ride. Here’s your ultimate guide to getting your vehicle prepped sa init nga panahon.
1. Cooling System: Iwas-Init, Iwas-Trouble
Cebu summers can hit over 35°C, especially in the city. Your engine works double-time, so make sure your coolant is full and your radiator is clean. Watch for cracks in hoses or any sign of leaks. If your temp gauge climbs while you’re stuck in Mandaue traffic, it's time for a cooling system check.
2. Aircon: Kinahanglan Presko Sa Tanan Oras
Let’s face it—without aircon, a drive from Lapu-Lapu to Cebu City during rush hour is torture. If your aircon isn’t cooling like it used to, come in for a freon check, filter cleaning, or AC system tune-up. Don’t wait until you’re sweating on the bridge!
3. Tires: Andam Bisan Asa Paingon
Whether you’re going uphill to Busay or driving long stretches to Santander, your tires should be in top shape. Check:
Tire pressure – adjust for the heat
Tread depth – for grip on both dry and wet roads
Spare tire – always check it’s usable, especially for out-of-town drives
4. Oil & Fluids: Protektahi ang Makina
Cebu heat plus engine friction equals faster wear. Make sure your oil is clean and suited for hot weather. Also check:
Brake and transmission fluids
Windshield washer fluid (use one that can handle dirt from mountain roads)
Power steering fluid if needed
5. Battery: Likayi ang Aberya Sa Kalsada
The summer heat can weaken your battery faster than you'd expect—especially with short trips around town draining it little by little. Check for corrosion, and if your battery is older than 2–3 years, it’s time for a test. Don’t wait until you're stranded on Escario.
6. Wipers & Lights: Para Sa Kalit Nga Uwan Ug Gabiing Biyahe
Mountain weather in Cebu can change fast. Don’t get caught in a downpour with bad wipers. Replace any that streak or squeak, and do a quick check of your headlights, brake lights, and fog lights—especially if you often drive in the highlands or at night.
7. Detailing: Para Nindot Tan-Awon Ug Lingaw I-Drive
From beach sand in the carpets to road dust on the hood, summer can get messy. Treat your ride to a full wash, wax, and interior detail—perfect after those weekend getaways or laag sa bukid.
